Assistant Camp Director

Assistant camp directors ensure camp sessions run smoothly by supporting staff, campers, and activities. They work closely with the director team to facilitate training, run day-to-day activities, respond to camper and staff needs, schedule activities, and coach staff. Assistant camp directors set the tone and culture of camp by living Christian Science, serving joyfully, communicating clearly, and responding thoughtfully to needs.

Assistant Horsemanship Director

The assistant horsemanship director ensures camp sessions run smoothly by supporting corral staff, campers, and activities. They work closely with the horsemanship director to facilitate training, run day-to-day corral activities, respond to camper and staff needs, schedule activities, and coach staff. The assistant horsemanship director sets the tone and culture of the corral and camp by living Christian Science, serving joyfully, communicating clearly, and responding thoughtfully to needs.

Camp Counselor | Bunkhouse Head

Camp counselors are the heart of summer Youth Camp. Counselors lead and support campers in their programs and cabins, setting the tone for studying and applying Christian Science at camp. They teach and facilitate activities in their assigned program area(s) and live in-cabin with campers as they positively impact the cabin atmosphere. Bunkhouse heads are additionally responsible for planning and directing cabin activities, as well as guiding and evaluating cabin counselors and CITs.

Counselor-in-Training (CIT)

The counselor-in-training (CIT) program at the A/U Ranches offers 17-year-olds an opportunity to learn and grow as servant leaders before their senior year in high school. CITs gain leadership and collaborative experience while working with campers and counselors in an environment where Christian Science is lived. CITs also support camp sessions by maintaining the lodges and washing dishes after meals. CITs are supported by ongoing guidance and feedback from the CIT trainer.

Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Trainer

The CIT trainer is responsible for facilitating the counselor-in-training (CIT) program and supporting CITs working at both Sky Valley Ranch and Round-Up Ranch. Responsibilities include leading the development of a strong CIT community, delivering leadership training for CITs, and providing CITs with ongoing feedback and support. The CIT trainer shares fresh ideas for the CIT program and contributes to strengthening the A/U Ranches’ CIT training model. This position works in close collaboration with the program and camp directors and lodge managers.

Family & Adult Programs Counselor

Counselors for family and adult programs support Family & Adult Camp and/or Adult Mini Camp, facilitating program activities and ensuring quality guest experiences. Counselors for family and adult programs set the tone for living Christian Science at camp and keep servant leadership at the heart of their interactions with program participants.

Program Head

Program heads play an integral leadership role at camp, modeling tone and culture for staff and campers alike and setting the tone for living Christian Science at camp. Program heads plan and lead their programs, including daily activities and outtrips. They provide feedback and coaching support to their program counselors in conjunction with their camp directors and support cabin life and other camp activities as needed.

Bus Driver

The bus driver supports A/U Ranches transportation needs, primarily driving the bus for rafting participants and staff. The bus driver may also transport program participants and staff to on- and off-property activities as needed throughout Youth Camp sessions and Family & Adult Programs. Bus drivers must have a current CDL, as well as current First Aid & CPR certification.

Corral Technician

The corral technician position is a multifaceted seasonal job, which is supervised by the horsemanship director and a facilities technician. Corral technicians are responsible for supporting and implementing irrigation and pasture management, fence building and planning, multiple horse herd management, supporting wilderness trips, and much more.

Floating Wrangler

Floating wranglers engage flexibly with both Round-Up Ranch and Sky Valley Ranch corral programs, helping set the tone for A/U Ranches corral programs at all levels, maintaining and modeling a high standard of care for corral campers and horses, and demonstrating a high degree of professionalism. This position supports corral activities and outtrips, both on property and in the backcountry, while also engaging with other camp activities outside of program time.

Lead Photographer

Gain practical experience as a lead photographer at the A/U Ranches in Buena Vista, CO. We are looking for individuals with an interest in photography that tells the story of camp and supports our mission. Two lead photographers (one at Sky Valley Ranch and one at Round-Up Ranch) will be specifically responsible for coordinating photographer schedules each session and liaising with the Adventure Unlimited marketing department and A/U Ranches summer management team.

Seasonal Ranch Hand

Seasonal ranch hands are responsible for supporting forest and pasture management, fence building and planning, trail construction work, and other maintenance needs. Seasonal ranch hands live in-cabin with campers and other counselors, setting the tone for studying and applying Christian Science at camp and supporting bunkhouse life. Seasonal ranch hands also support other non-program activities such as evening programs.

Assistant Head Cook

This position directly supports the head chef/head cook and is responsible for assisting in kitchen management and menu execution. The assistant head cook may line out staff or close out a shift in the head chef/head cook’s absence. Skillset includes: experience in a kitchen environment and management of kitchen staff; enjoying time in the kitchen supporting food and fellowship; willingness to learn new things; creativity and efficiency. This is an hourly paid position open to anyone 18 years of age or older. Food Safety Certification course provided.

Kitchen Staff

This position serves in the kitchen on a short-term or season-long basis as a line cook, working under the direction of the head chef/head cook. Skillset includes: enjoying time in the kitchen supporting food and fellowship; willingness to take direction and learn new things; creativity and efficiency. Previous kitchen experience is a plus, but is not required. This can be an entry or mid-level hourly paid position open to anyone 18 years of age or older. Food Safety Certification course provided.

Lodge Manager

This position manages counselor-in-training and staff lodge/dish crews to maintain the cleanliness and overall atmosphere of the lodge, as well as other shared spaces on property, such as Wyly Lodge and the Boyman Center. The lodge manager is responsible for finishing any work not completed by CIT crews and for maintaining the lodge in its entirety. Skillset includes: experience in managing people, thoroughness, cleanliness. Food Safety Certification course provided.

Seasonal Head Cook

This position runs one of the A/U Ranches kitchens during summer programming. Skillset includes: experience in food production for large groups, and/or background in catering or restaurant work; the ability to plan and execute a menu; and the ability to run an efficient team that delivers top notch food quality to groups of up to 200 people. Food Safety Manager Certification required (course and certification provided).

Volunteer

Bunkhouse Parents

Camper parents and other adults (grandparents, camp alumni, etc.) lovingly volunteer their time to help our youngest campers at Sky Valley Ranch. Bunkhouse parents live in cabins with campers and staff and help provide a sense of home, while supporting campers’ spiritual and personal growth. During each day, bunkhouse parents support specific camp needs, such as inspecting camper cabins, transporting camper laundry to town, helping manage the camp store, etc., and they also enjoy some down time for relaxation or exploration. Bunkhouse parents arrive and depart with the campers during a session. Priority is given to adults who can commit to serving for a full 2-week session.
